More fun to solve puzzles like this than from a book.

. . . But this app is an exception. If I could give it six stars I would. The app is on, and with all of the fun, the app teaches me how to play better chess. This app is my favorite place on my iPhone.
Nowhere does it say that this is absolutely not a chess game; This is not a chess game, but a series of games played by others. This is a complete ruse.
401, wrong solution!
Highly recommended for all levels
I enjoy tactics a lot. On my computer I use CT-ART. I was looking for something similar, and I found this app. I like this one as much ( and sometimes even more) because theres a chess engine playing any number of valid responses. If youre wrong, youll find out fast! I think this will be perfect to supplement a chess course.
Bought this app after seeing the reviews. Tried to put on board the moves checking the notations mentioned. Either they are incomplete or wrong and this is just for the first two....will check more yet disappointed.
Ive only recently gotten into playing chess but this app is still very fun. Its a great way to expand your thinking as you are presented with different situation. Definitely a lot more fun than playing a computer.
Strength; 1) Great Puzzles 2) Reliable App which never crashed 3) Average Looking Boards Opportunities; 1) Progress not synced between iPad and iPhone In summary, Great App
One of the best chess apps I have used.
This app still has the same issues since ipad one. First for many many many problems the solution solver does not work. .you work on a puzzle, give up and ask for solution onky to be given a message that no solution found. not one problem but many. Second issue is that the solution focen different answers and some tht are not recognized as correct. so you press on text for answer it gives one and press on solver and it give another yet solver wont accept the answer given in text. so it does not recognize multiple correct answers. so overall for puzzles 4 moves or less its ok, for all puzzles larger than four it does not work. and many are wrong. one puzzle mate in 10, i entered into shredder that found mate in 7. Too many issue that are the same issue from ipad one era still present. you figure since we are in ipad air two era they would have corrected this by now.
Ive purchased A LOT of apps , this is the best dollar Ive spent on one . I play everyday , Ive defiantly improved. Im currently on the check mate in 2 puzzles and looking forward to progress . If youre worried about spending 100 cents on a great app such as this just buy it already . I was a little worried that I wouldnt get that much puzzles for only a $1.00 but their is SO many puzzles , wow !
All one gets is a nice icon but the app is totally - EMPTY, zip , zilch, nada !!!!!!!!! The database is empty. I have tried to reload several times on my iPad - it is frustrating! Same thing goes for Kasparov and Fischer apps!!!!
My son, daughter, and I use this every night before reading time. This app helps us both think better chess! Amazing array of interactive chess problems. We love it. Great for kids learning chess and teens and parents, too.
Excellent problems very enjoyable
I use this app on trips and other pausing time. Its excellent, never had a problem with it. Some reviewers have had glitches Ive never seen in all the time Ive used this app.
This is a wonderful app! I spend more time with this app than any of the other multitude of apps I own. It is challenging, fun, and a great way to keep chess skills sharp when I only have a few minutes available.
Really really really needed to work on my end game. Just now finished the last of the two move puzzles and starting on the three move puzzles. This is currently the only reason I keep my phone charged :D
This app has great puzzles and helps encourage chess strategy. Layout and functionality seem to me to be self-explanatory. If I had one suggestion, it would be to provide progressive hints rather than just first move.
My major complaint: once one proceeds beyond Mate in 4 the computer starts thinking on its own, beyond whatever the actual outcome of the masters game its supposed to depict. If the idea is to learn from the recorded game, then whats programmed into it should reflect the actual games notation, not allow it to respond with other possible solutions, even if other moves are possible. At such a point, theres no way to know what the master players actual moves were.
